Situated at the top of Ludgate Hill, the West Front of St Paul's Cathedral is a grand conception with two storeys of coupled columns, flanked by twin towers. The sculptures which surmount the second storey are the work of Francis Bird, as is the scene sculpted in the pediment - that is, the central, triangular space above the second storey. This represents the conversion of St Paul, patron saint of the Cathedral.
The statue which stands at ground level in front of the West End, portrays Queen Anne, the monarch in whose reign the Cathedral was completed. It is a copy of the original, installed in 1885.
