The central point of the Cathedral is here, where the east-west axis of Nave and Quire meets the north-south axis of the Transepts. Above you is not just one dome: three great domes rise one above another: the inner one, into which you look from ground level; the intermediate cone-shaped dome which is above it, and above that the outer dome of timber, masonry and lead which rises above the roof-line of the City.
